Don’t we just love when artistes make a come back from long breaks to serve us songs that refresh our minds? This was the case this week as some of our favorite African artistes wrapped up their hiatus to deliver banging tunes. Nigerian actor, singer and politician Banky W is no exception as he gave us a new love song titled Jo which is the Yoruba word for dance.
Reporting from Ghana, although not on a hiatus, Shatta Wale gave us a new song, Jail Man to celebrate his release from his short term stay in police custody. From Nigeria to Ghana, here are five trending songs across Africa this week.

Still being celebrated as one of the best R&B singers in Africa, Banky W breaks his hiatus with a new remarkable song titled Jo. On this new, love-inspired song, Banky W reminded fans of why we loved him in the first place – his catchy lyrics which allow listeners to fall in love over and over again, and his pretty wife’s video vixen appearance that kept the “awww” gang drooling.
#2. Basketmouth ft. 2Baba and Blaqbonez – Trouble
Nigerian comedian, actor and musician, Basketmouth linked up with veteran artiste 2Baba and rising star Blaqbonez to give Nigerians a new song titled Trouble. This serves as a follow up to Your Body which featured the Nigerian rave of the moment, Buju, and it’s the new single off Basketmouth‘s upcoming album, Horoscopes.
#3. Shatta Wale – Jail Man
Following his release from police custody on bail, Shatta Wale drops a new song based on his ordeal titled Jail man. The song is a groovy record with catchy lyrics and an amazing production, which proves that nothing can bring him down. It’s great to see that Shatta Wale is not shaken by his ordeal as he continues to dish out great music.
#4. Perruzi – Sweetah
It has been a while since we’ve heard anything from the famous Nigerian artiste Peruzzi, but the celebrated songwriter returned Wednesday with a fresh new track called Sweetah. Over the Mr EFF production, Peruzzi sings about a lady friend tasting as sweet as sugar.
#5. Omah Lay – Free My Mind
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Omah Lay drops a brand new song titled Free My Mind assisting the build-up to his upcoming album, Boy Alone. Free My Mind registers as Omah Lay’s second official single for the year. It is a follow-up to the highly infectious Tempoe-produced record Understand which was released back in July.
