Sony and Bose have been close competitors for a long time now. Sony released the MDR-1000X headphones a few years back and took on the Bose QuiteComfort 25. Since then these two companies have been competing for consumers’ favor. The fight continues between these two tech giants as Bose launched its new QuietComfort 45 to take on the Sony 1000XM4 that was released in late 2020. Bose QuietComfort 45: Sound,specs, price and more
Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones are cheaper than Sony WH-1000XM4 and are winners in this area. Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones are priced at $329 which is roughly Rs 24,693 in Indian Currency whereas the Sony WH-1000XM4 costs $349.99 which is roughly Rs 26,268. However, the margin between the cost of both headphones is not wide but it makes a difference.
Bose QuietComfort 45 matches its looks from its predecessor QuietComfort 35 and most of the customers will appreciate the similar look here. The exterior is sleek and feels comfortable because of the padded foam bridge and faux-leatherette ear pads. The headphones weigh 238 grams and they are very comfortable to wear for long hours.
The controls are the same in all the Bose headphones in the past so the customers can start using the newly launched headphones without any hassle. The pause-play and the volume up-down control is on the right earcup whereas the new ambient aware mode is on the left earcup.
The noise cancellation feature in the Bose QuiteComfort 45 is powerful and you can use this mode easily and listen to music at mid volume without any outside noise. However, there is only one setting for the noise cancellation unlike the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 that has 11 different levels.
Sony WH-1000XM4: Sound, specs and more
Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones have better sound quality that offers a wide soundstage when required and a powerful bass performance. These headphones support LDAC which is a higher end audio codec that allows them to receive more data than the Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones when it is connected to an Android device. So if we talk about clarity in music and better overall experience, Sony WH-1000XM4 is much better than Bose QuiteComfort 45.
Sony WH-1000XM4 sounds similar to a speakerphone while connected on call and is much better than the Bose QuietComfort 45.
Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones offer a good battery backup of up to 30 hours with noise cancelling mode activated and up to 38 hours without noise cancellation. However, it is not better than the battery backup offered by its predecessor 1000XM3.
