Program Description

This program prepares professionals to work in the fields of adult and talent development as well as institutional instructional development. The need for talent managers, instructional designers and program facilitators is critical in today's knowledge economy. Workers need more training and professional development to meet the needs of rapidly changing institutions. Professional trainers, designers and talent developers who are knowledgeable about how adults learn are necessary to build successful organizations. There is an expanding need for trainers, managers and talent developers to build responsive businesses and institutions. Such talent development professionals understand how adults learn and how to design learning experiences for changing the modern digital-age worker.聽

To attain the certificate, students must complete 18 hours of coursework with a GPA of 3.0 or better and a B- or better in all courses. Elective hours for coursework in the program must be approved by the coordinator of the Education and Innovation program.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students analyze adult learner profiles and competencies in order to develop appropriate professional learning plans.聽
  • Students analyze adult learner professional skills and capabilities in order to develop appropriate professional learning plans.聽
  • Students construct instructional objectives and match them to instructional activities and designs in order to improve human and business capacity.
  • Students construct instructional design plans, job aids and interventions to improve human and business capacity.

  • EDIN 5120 Instructional Development (3 hours)
  • EDIN 5130 Foundations of Workplace Learning (3 hours)
  • EDIN 5140 Evaluation of Training Programs (3 hours)
  • EDIN 5630 Multimedia Design for Innovative Learning (3 hours)
  • EDIN 6001 Integrated Studies: Education and Innovation (3 hours)
  • Elective as approved by the EDIN Coordinator (3 hours)
